We help companies and leaders who refuse to be misunderstood — building, protecting, and enhancing the reputations that drive lasting business value.
Start a ConversationReputation isn’t an intangible asset — it’s the most tangible thing you own. It opens doors, closes deals, and survives long after the campaign ends. We exist to make yours unassailable.
Deal Slatin Communications Group was founded on a simple conviction: the companies that communicate with the most clarity win. Not the loudest. Not the flashiest. The clearest.
We don’t craft messages that sound good in a boardroom. We craft messages that hold up on a Tuesday three years from now.
— Marianna Deal, Founding Partner
Publicly traded companies list reputation as “goodwill” on their balance sheets — as if it were abstract. We know better. Reputation is built by hand, protected with discipline, and enhanced through relentless strategic clarity. That’s what we’ve done for decades, for some of the world’s most recognized organizations.
Your reputation doesn’t announce itself — it’s architected. We help companies of all sizes find the language, the strategy, and the channels that turn who you are into what people believe about you.
A reputation built over decades can unravel in hours. We specialize in the discipline of preparation — and the calm, clear-eyed counsel that matters most when the pressure is highest.
Growth doesn’t come from being known — it comes from being known for the right things by the right people. We connect your brand to the customers, officials, investors, and opinion leaders who move markets.
The best communications strategy is the one your people can actually execute on Monday morning. Everything else is theater.
— Mike Slatin, Founding Partner
Between us, we’ve spent over six decades inside the rooms where reputations are made and defended — from the halls of Congress to the C-suites of Fortune 500s. We started Deal Slatin Communications Group because we believe the best counsel comes from people who’ve been in the fight, not just studied it.
Founding Partner
For more than three decades, Marianna has been the person C-suite executives and elected leaders call when the stakes are real. Her career at global communications powerhouse FleishmanHillard spanned 28 years and some of the most consequential campaigns in corporate America — P&G, Clorox, Peabody Energy, Centene, Energizer, and Anheuser-Busch among them. She’s managed crises that made international headlines, including the BP oil spill and the Bridgestone Firestone tire recall. Most recently, Marianna served as senior communications adviser to a U.S. Senator and state Attorney General. From Capitol Hill to the corner office, she’s known for one thing: frank, business-led advice that doesn’t flinch.
Founding Partner
Mike has spent 30 years doing one thing exceptionally well: making complex situations clear. Boardroom executives rely on him for the kind of counsel that doesn’t just survive the news cycle but shapes it. His specialties — crisis and rapid response, thought leadership, narrative development, and media strategy — have driven global campaigns for Caterpillar, Emerson, AT&T, UPS, and The Walt Disney Company. As a former Senior Vice President and Senior Partner at FleishmanHillard in St. Louis (and a former newspaper reporter before that), Mike brings an uncommon combination: the instinct of a journalist, the discipline of a strategist, and the steady hand of someone who’s been in every kind of room.
Reputation isn’t built by the loudest voice in the room. It’s built by the clearest one.
